Chapter 1:

Your P.O.V.

Felic skipped ahead of you and Gilbert, humming a little too happy tune, considering the burning wreckage in the field. Gilbert was on edge, even though it was daytime and the undead weren'tabout. His hand was on his sword's hilt, his red eyes glancing around cautiously.

"Don't go too far ahead Feli." Gilbert warned.

"Oh, sorry." Feli replied, slowing down so you and Gilbert could catch up. "I just want to find my fratello soon!"

Both Feli and Gilbert were looking for their brothers. Ever since the incident at lab six downtown, they both had disappeared. Feli was too innocent to even consider his older brother, Lovino, being turned into one of the many undead. But Gilbert, however, had thought of that possibility many times in fact.

You remembered the day you were with Gilbert and you both had went to his house to pack up and leave the city together, with his younger brother, Ludwig.

The door was unlocked, which was strange. Once the two of you got inside, you noticed that most of the walls were bare of any pictures, most of them had fallen to the ground, the glass shattered into millions of pieces. It looked like other survivors had scavenged the house earlier.

"Ludwig!" Gilbert called out.

There was no answer. Worried, Gilbert darted upstairs, drawing out his sword, prepared to see any raiders or possibly, his undead brother. You followed closely behind, worried for Ludwig. You had known Gilbert and Ludwig for so long, they were like family to you.

There was a bang as Gilbert kicked the door to Ludwig's room open. He looked around, the room was bare as well, all the clothes were gone from the closet and some pictures were missing from the dresser. Gilbert sat down of Ludwig's bed. He put his head in his hands, shaking a little.

"Gilbert, I'm sure Ludwig's fine. He took his clothes with him and his stock of weapons." You tried to reassure him. "He's old enough to take care of himself. Maybe he banded together with some other survivors."

You placed your hand on his shoulder and he flinched away as if your touch burned him. You dropped your hand away from him and instantly felt bad. You didn't know what Gilbert was feeling at the moment, losing his younger brother, whom he had raised himself.

That's when Feli came into the house. "Ve! Ludwig! Lovino's gone!"

You recognized Feli's voice and headed downstairs. Gilbert stood up behind you. "Lovino's missing too?" He asked, mostly to himself though.

"I guess so...." You answered, heading down the stairs.

You saw Feli crying on the floor. "My fratello abandoned me!" Feli wailed. You felt bad for him as well. But it was strange that Lovino left Feli like that, considering that he's so protective over him.

"Are you sure Lovino abandoned you? Are you sure he didn't just go out for a little bit?" You didn't want to believe that Feli's brother was missing too.

"______! What are you doing here?!" Feli seemed to snap out of it a bit.

"Um, well, Gilbert and I were planning on leaving the city...." You said a little guiltily.

"R-really? What about Ludwig?" Feli asked, looking like he was going to cry again.

"Ludwig's gone too." Gilbert added, his voice sounding almost emotionless.

"What?!" Feli broke down crying again, saying something about everyone leaving him in between the sobs.

You patted his back. "Don't worry Feli, you still have us." You said, hoping it would calm him down.

Feli managed to stop crying for a bit. "Then, do you think I can stay with you guys?"

"No-" Gilbert started.

"Sure, we don't mind." You interrupted Gilbert.

"Grazie _____!" Feli tackled you into a hug. Then after gathering supplies and weapons, you guys headed out of the city.

~Back to the present!~

"_____!" Gilbert suddenly shouted, snapping you to attention.

"Huh? What?" You asked, looking up at Gilbert in confusion.

Gilbert sighed. "You weren't listening. Frau, Feli spotted a farmhouse up ahead. We're planning on staying there for tonight. You should pay more attention, you're being really unawesome right now."

You nodded. "Okay," You followed Gilbert and Feli to the farmhouse. You thought about what Gilbert said. He didn't call that many people awesome besides himself, his close friends, his younger brother, and you.

Gilbert opened the door to the farmhouse. It creaked open on rusty hinges. The place was abandoned, but there seemed to be nothing stolen. Immediately Feli headed to the kitchen. "I hope they have pasta..." He murmured, really missing pasta since you hadn't packed any for food.

"Stay here, ______. I'm going to search the house. People might still be here...." Then Gilbert left you and Feli to search for any people.

While you waited for him to return, you looked around the front part of the house. The farmhouse was rather nice, it smelled like dust, but other than that, it seemed pretty normal.

"Yay! There IS pasta!" Feli exclaimed happily from the kitchen.

"Really?" You went to the kitchen and saw Feli holding a package of noodles. You smiled a little at seeing this. "Seems like we're going to have a nice dinner tonight."
